Alison Middleton – Director, Author and Part-time French Teacher
Alison Middleton taught French to children aged 3-11 years in the UK and overseas and currently still teaches 3-4 yr olds and some of her 9 Key Stage 1 grandchildren! During her earlier years of teaching French, having become dissatisfied with the lack of available MFL resources for Primary pupils she began producing her own. From small beginnings Cartes Cochons grew into a company that provides a wide range of resources for Modern Foreign Language Teaching, available in French, Spanish, German, Italian and English.
These resources include 2 French Songbooks+CD, a very large range of Topic and Grammar related posters in 2 sizes, A6 mini Picture Dictionaries, French Pupil Wordbooks or Dictionnaires organised alphabetically or phonically, a variety of rewards eg colouring bookmarks, Certificates of Merit, Photocopiable Colouring Greetings Cards, Colouring and Vocabulary Workbooks in Spanish and French. Alison also stocks the excellent Berthe series of story books.
She has used her colourful, affordable resources successfully in foreign language learning for young children and to enhance the requirements of the National Curriculum. A foreign language has been a statutory requirement in KS2 from September2014. Some of the basic requirements are learning rhymes and poems, speaking in sentences, writing phrases and short sentences from memory, engaging in conversations and broadening vocabulary.
Anne Oliver - Illustrator
Artist, illustrator and teacher Anne Oliver spent many years teaching K1 and 2pupils. Throughout her time in the classroom she found that appealing, child friendly illustrations greatly enhance the learning experience and drawing on this knowledge and experience she creates materials for Cartes Cochons.
Recycling
Where appropriate Cartes Cochons uses recycled packaging, reusing the boxes that Printing Companies and Schools receive their deliveries of paper in.
