About Us
Alison Middleton - Author and Director
As a peripatetic French teacher in Nottinghamshire Alison Middleton currently teaches children throughout Foundation, and Key Stages 1 and 2. During her years of teaching French, having become dissatisfied with the MFL resources available for Primary pupils Alison began producing her own. From these small beginnings Cartes Cochons has grown into a company that provides a wide range of resources for Modern Foreign Language Teaching. At present there is a variety of resources available in French, Spanish,German and Italian and English.
These include photocopiable worksheets, games, a CD and songbook, a large range of posters, colouring cards, a Mini A6 Picture Dictionary and a A5 Pupil Wordbook, and rewards such as stickers, bookmarks, stampers, badges and certificates. Cartes Cochons also offers large dice with pockets and sets of cards to use with the dice, and the range of Berthe story books. All these resources help to liven and enhance language teaching with young children
With links to and ideas from the 2005 Framework for Languages, Cartes Cochons resources help to provide a colourful, stimulating approach to language learning whilst embedding MFL in the primary curriculum in a flexible, cross-curricular way.
Anne Oliver - Illustrator
Artist,illustrator and teacher, Anne Oliver has spent nine years teaching Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils. Throughout her time in the classroom she has found that appealing, child-friendly illustrations greatly enhance the learning experience. It is drawing from this knowledge and experience that she is now creating materials for Cartes Cochons
Portland Print
Portland Print is a small company with a team of several people based in Nottinghamshire providing printing and design services. They are part of Portland College, a college for people with physical disabilities. All Cartes Cochons' paper products are printed by Portland, who also play a important role in their design.
Recycling
Where appropriate Cartes Cochons uses recycled packaging, primarily using the boxes in which Portland Print receive their deliveries of paper.
